Slow going, but worth the ride.

I could watch this one at least once a week and not tire of it. Great character development, humorous, and good storyline although it moves slowly.  I didn't really appreciate it until I had seen it a second time.
It is about a dwarf, with a chip on his shoulder, who inherits a small train depot (think outbuilding) in New Jersey and how he adjusts to his new community and the people with whom he comes into contact.
This movie will take you through a range of emotions but isn't emotionally overwhelming. One of my all-time favorites that I hope you will watch.

The Best of Everything

Why do I love this movie?  Perhaps it is because it draws my attention to how far women in the workplace have come. I can't imagine how it was to be a working woman in the 1950s (or earlier!).  The theme of chauvinism is secondary only to the overarching theme of sexual harassment.
Still, I've seen this movie a handful of times.  I love the outfits and the music.  The theme song is sung by my favorite, Johnny Mathis. This movie features Joan Crawford and a very young Hope Lange.  Young, educated women with hopes and dreams face the harsh realities of working in an office and searching for Mr. Right.
